Terms & Conditions of Blue Wave Swim
Please read our terms and conditions before you book swimming lessons with us. Our policy provides necessary details regarding bookings, pool rules, and procedures for cancellations due to pool closures or other unforeseen events. If you require further clarity, please make an enquiry before booking.
Swimming Lessons Rules
- Access: The pool is open to participating students only. Booking fees cover swim lessons only; we do not provide leisure swimming time before or after lessons.
- Hygiene: For hygienic reasons, all swimmers must shower in the changing rooms before entering the pool.
- Supervision: For child safety, a trusted adult must remain in the building and observe from allocated areas. If a child over 9 is permitted to attend or leave alone, this must be submitted to us in writing beforehand.
- Valuables: We strongly advise against bringing valuable items. Bags and valuables are not permitted poolside. Blue Wave Swim School does not accept responsibility for stolen or lost items.
- Pool Entry: Swimmers must not enter the water before their lesson and must leave the pool area immediately after. Parents must supervise children during waiting times to ensure they stay away from the poolside.
- Punctuality: Please be on time. If a swimmer is more than 15 minutes late, it is at the teacher’s discretion whether they may join the class.
What to Wear
- Proper Attire: Students without appropriate swimwear (shorts/suits, swim caps, and swim nappies for under 3s) will not be allowed in the pool. We do not lend kit for hygiene reasons.
- No Underwear: Swimming in underwear is strictly prohibited.
- Swim Caps: Compulsory for all swimmers aged 3 and above.
- Goggles: Optional, but highly recommended for intermediate and advanced levels.
Food & Drink
- Apart from water bottles, food and drinks are strictly prohibited poolside. We recommend parents bring a water bottle to keep swimmers hydrated.
Communication During Lessons
- Please do not engage instructors or students in conversation during lessons to avoid distraction.
- To speak with a teacher, please request an appointment via info@bluewaveswim.co.uk.
Small Group and Semi-Private Policy
- Children are grouped based on age and swimming ability. Note: ‘Parent & Child’ classes are not divided by previous lesson history.
Payments and Refunds
- No Refunds: Once payment is made and a place is confirmed, no refunds or credits are given for client-side cancellations.
- Admin Fees: A £20 fee applies for extra administrative work due to client errors (e.g., overpayment).
- Agreement: Upon payment, it is deemed that the client understands and agrees to all Blue Wave Swim School policies.
Missed Lessons and Cancellations
- Forfeited Lessons: Missed lessons due to holidays, parties, or minor illnesses (like colds) cannot be refunded or made up.
- Prolonged Illness: If a swimmer misses 6+ consecutive lessons due to illness, a credit may be issued upon receipt of a valid doctor’s note.
- Replacements: You cannot send another child to utilize a missed lesson in your place.
- Health Safety: If you or your child have a high temperature or feel unwell, please stay home and return only when you are fully recovered.
Film and Photography
Strictly Prohibited: No photography or filming is allowed in the pool or changing areas. This includes mobile phones, cameras, and video recorders.
Electrical Appliances
Personal hairdryers, straighteners, and other electrical appliances are not permitted on-site per Wimbledon College’s hire terms. Challenging or dismissive behavior regarding this rule may result in booking cancellation.
Changes in Timetable
Blue Wave Swim School reserves the right to alter schedules or venues. If lessons are cancelled due to pool closure or bad weather, we will offer a make-up lesson or a refund if a make-up session cannot be reasonably provided.
Feedback and Complaints
To discuss any matters, please speak to the Deck Manager after the lesson, call us at 020 8090 1415, or email info@bluewaveswim.co.uk.
