Easter Holiday Swimming Crash Courses

Children Swimming Crash Courses

Swimming Crash courses or intensive swimming course are short courses (normally 5-Day or 4-Day courses) offered during school holidays.

Swimming crash courses are quick, back-to-back weekday swimming lessons, perfect for school breaks like half-term, Easter, and summer holidays. Blue Wave Swim Schools in Wimbledon offers these weekday morning sessions.

They’re a fantastic way to keep kids active and make fast progress in swimming, especially for busy families who can’t fit in weekly lessons during the school year.”

What Children Learn in Crash Courses?

1:1 swim lesson

In our crash courses, similar to our weekly term-time lessons, we follow the Swim England structure for teaching swimming. we offer 1:1 or semi-private lessons.

But, our intensive swimming courses offer a concentrated approach to learning. We use the same teaching methods we use in our regular weekly lessons in our crash course. But,

  • Children receive either 30 or 60 minutes of daily
  • Personalised instruction over consecutive days over a week or two or more.
  • This allows them to make significant progress in a short period, effectively covering several weeks’ worth of standard lessons
  • A key benefit is saving travel time compared to weekly sessions

Advantage of Back-to-Back Daily Lessons

Crash Courses has an accelerated learning curve. With no week-long gaps between sessions, children retain and build upon their skills more effectively, leading to faster improvement compared to traditional weekly lessons.

Depending on each child’s swimming ability, the course will focus on specific goals. For beginners, we prioritise building confidence in the water, and teaching essential safety skills. For children who are water confident, the focus is on teaching and refining strokes. For example, if they don’t know breaststroke, we teach them breaststroke. Or maybe a child can swim front crawl but, not in a polished way. We can focus on improving technique.

This will be coupled with developing other important aquatic skills like diving or treading water.

The overall aim is to improve their swimming proficiency, stamina, and efficiency.

Daily back-to-back lessons for 30 or 60 minutes on consecutive days could make a lot of difference quickly.

Crash courses could be a substitute of once-a-week lesson, specially for busy families. You can fit almost a half-term worth of lessons by doing a week crash course or almost a whole term of lessons into two weeks.

Doing crash courses could also save time on traveling to lessons.

The Main Goals of Holiday Crash Courses

For beginners, our crash course lessons focus on:

  • Boost water confidence
  • Teaching water-safety skills
  • Teaching the fundamentals of swimming

For intermediate and more advanced swimmers:

  • Improving/polishing technique
  • Learning new strokes
  • Learning and practicing other important aquatic skills like diving
  • Building stamina
